Of unknown origin, this variety was released by A.P. Knight in an orchard in Addo, Cape Town Province, South Africa in 1927, although it was potentially not recognized until the 1970s. Its main characteristics are a high percentage of juice, better flavour, almost seedless and significantly larger fruit size.
